Heather Under Moonlight

Lake Region Saturday Group, 7/02/2026

The party stands outside the house hung with garlic, and talk with the person inside. An old woman, she speaks cryptically, but the party determine what they need to know; some other adventurers had been hired by a man who was unwilling to let his wife die to slake the vampire lady's thirst, they failed to stop her, and the vampire had destroyed the hamlet as revenge.

Considering this information, as well as what they knew about vampires (and the information about their abilities I was willing to provide,) the party elected to ignore this particular situation and return to Ambell. A few days of uneventful travel later, they collected Lucius and Edith and headed out looking for something to do. Rachel poked her head into a small taxidermist's shop in the town run by a man named Lothric. He told them about Sir Henry's castle of gnolls down Southeast. The party moved on and went to Getford. They encountered a body of dismounted Holdmen skirmishers, who they convinced to move on, and then hung around Getford some more.

In the bars of Getford, Thistle met with a drunken grain merchant who did the Kelling run and talked about Holdman cavalry in the hills going after the refugees; she tried to get information out of him but he was very drunk indeed and tried to stumble off to bed while they were talking. Also, Rachel met some fishermen, who knew there was a monster in the hills North of Kallithea, one of whom was planning to go up and fight it. They said that it was kind of man-shaped, but green and covered in tumorous growths, and it regenerated when it was wounded. The fisherman who had been wounded was unwilling to talk about it because he felt it would humiliate him if he did, but one of his friends told Rachel about the problem.

The party then goes to meet with the Kelling refugees and hear about the cavalry. Most of the refugees have left the iron mine for Ambell now, but a few people are clinging on to the place to ensure that people escaping from Kelling have a safe place to go. They also hear that their nomad friends, the No Tongues, are up at the trading post in the hills; they go to visit and find that Valakili's sister has been kidnapped by gnolls. Katore, their friend among the nomads, is very busy with his clerical duties, so it falls to them to recover the girl. They go to the place where the ambush happened and Thistle searches for tracks.

Hot on the trail of the gnolls, the party are ambushed by a patrol of Holdman cavalry! The cavalry charge and inflict some wounds among the crossbowmen, but are quickly dispatched by the fighters' multiple attacks. That was where we ended the session. See you all next week! :) <3
