Heather Under Moonlight

Recap of the Political Situation for the Lake Region.

So this is mostly for the Sunday group, who are getting a timeskip from Autumn to Spring, and also for the readers following along at home who might not be aware of the present situation with the Holdmen and the battles of the month of the River Moon.

At the beginning of Spring, the 1st of the Month of the River Moon, King Sigurd in Tor and the High Priest of the Sun's general, Marcus Helva the Immortal, begin to muster their armies. After a series of bandit raids, Sigurd musters his army on the 20th and begins to march North, to Ambell. The lord of Ambell, a 9th-level paladin, is shocked by this move, and scrambles to amass fighting men into a defensive force. At the same time, Nissa's party arrives back in Ambell and settle in for the night. On the 22nd, Sigurd arrives and encamps; that night, his camp is infiltrated by Nissa's party, who slay many horses and burn tents and supplies. On the 23rd, supported by a wizard casting Fire Charm to render the city's defenders unable to prevent the army from climbing the wall, Sigurd's army attacks Ambell and mounts the walls, but are turned back by a cavalry attack. Sigurd slays, in turn, the Paladin Lord of Ambell and Nissa's party's fighter Valeucous (R.I.P,) but Valeucous had already turned much of his heavy infantry back from the wall; Sigurd is forced to flee South, with much of his militia deserting because of the destruction of their tents.

On the 21st, Thysrus also finishes mustering, and heads down to Pitting to scare up some extra troops. They don't do anything else for a little while; but on the 1st of the Lamb Moon, they finish mustering in Pitting and march North with the entire army to take Kelling. By the 4th, they reach it; Sigurd attacks to relieve Kelling's defenders, but arrives too late; his shattered army cannot defeat the Holdmen, who have only fought the people of Kelling.

The situation, on the 21st, has stood at an impasse for two and a half weeks; many refugees from Kelling have fled North across the lake and swamp to the iron mines, and have encamped there. The Holdmen are waiting for something, the refugees are numerous enough to present an obstacle but not to retake their home, Ambell is leaderless, and Sigurd is armyless. The situation cannot last forever.

TLDR: The Holdmen have Kelling, Sigurd of Tor attacked Ambell, and everyone's angling for a fight soon. Good luck
