WAR BEAR
When the Imperial armies came, the Hettic princes fought first by the usual means. Once the last of their housecarls joined their fathers in glory, the remaining princes turned to the old alliances. In the deep woods, they found better than warriors. Through the winter, terror
Bears get +3 to Strength, +1 to Constitution, -2 Dexterity, and -3 Charisma for non-bears. They must have at least 16 Strength and 15 Constitution. They can only advance as members of the War Bear class.
WAR BEAR.
Alignments: Any Lawful. If the bear stops being Lawful, they return to being a normal bear, but retain their HD and weapon proficiencies (if any.)
War Bears may not wear armor made for humans. They must commission special armor at four times the weight and price. They may use normal large shields, but only against a single opponent.
Allowed Weapons: Battle Axe, Bardiche, Bec de Corbin, Bill-Guisarme, Club, Fauchard, Fauchard-Fork, Footman's Flail, Military Fork, Glaive, Glaive-Guisarme, Guisarme, Guisarme-Voulge, Halberd, Javelin, Lucern Hammer, Morning Star, Partisan, Footman's Pick, Spear, Trident, Voulge. Bear paws can't manipulate little weapons.
War Bears gain one proficiency every three levels and take a -3 penalty with non-proficient weapons. They do not start proficient in any weapons, but may attack with teeth and claws, making two claw attacks for 1d6 damage and one bite attack for 1d8 damage. Only weapon attacks gain a strength bonus to damage and are eligible for multiple attacks. When using a weapon normally, the war bear may attack with a bite against the same target for 1d8 damage.
War Bears have double normal encumbrance capacity. Because they've got big-ass paws, they need to take shit out of their pack when it's on the ground, which means that it takes a full round to retrieve items from your inventory. There is a 1-in-10 chance of dropping an item for every segment less than a full round you want the process to take. They also need two potions to have the same effect as a normal potion, except for healing potions. War Bears are large creatures for all purposes - they take vs. Large damage from weapons, take up an extra foot in the line of battle compared to humans with the same equipment, and can always be picked out by missile fire.
XP is as a fighter but with all requirements doubled. They begin with 3d8 HP and get 1d8 HP per level. A war bear begins with a THAC0 of 18 and advances by 1 point each level. They get multiple weapon attacks equal to their level against creatures with less than 1 HP.
